Hot Chicken Takeover is growing, and before we buckle our seats and strap in for the growth and expansion we have planned, there is one more seat left at our leadership table for a Human Resources Director. Is that you?
ABOUT HCT
A little over 3 years ago, we started selling Nashville-style hot chicken out of a window in Olde Towne East— we did it every weekend for an entire summer and fall. From there, we opened on the second floor of the historic North Market downtown and by the end of the year we’ll have 3 restaurants and a food truck operating out of Central Ohio—and we’re just getting started.
Most people know us because of our great chicken, but the reason why we started selling it was because our founder had the desire to make a social impact by offering supportive employment to those who need it. In other words, if somebody has a criminal record, suffered from homelessness, or grew up in a cycle of instability, we offer them the same consideration for employment as we would anybody else. Our mantra is “Acknowledge the past; judge by the present and future.” We call this approach Fair Chance Employment. We live by our five values; Team, Hustle, Ownership, Growth and Solutions. We’re looking for an HR Director who not only aligns with these values and employment model, but also understands the intricacies of HR and will help us seek continuous improvement on our model as we scale and grow. In other words—yeah, what we’re doing is innovative. But how can we continue to push ourselves forward? Our team will exceed 200 members by the end of this year.
The Human Resources Director’s success will be based on the ability to perform the following duties:
- Develop Department Strategy: We’re looking for somebody to implement organizational strategies by identifying and researching the current state of our company and envisioning how to scale this concept as we continue to grow. In other words, we want somebody to strategically look at how we are now, and figure out what’s next—before it happens. This encompasses all of our Human Resources collateral from recruitment to handbooks, from onboarding to culture and everything in between.
- Lead Recruitment Efforts: This position will lead the charge in recruiting our crew-level team members. Each restaurant we open represents 100 new opportunities for meaningful employment. This entails rolling up some sleeves and getting out in the community, connecting with agency partners, leading recruitment events, and making strategic calls on digital and social media integration. We’re looking for this role to be the relationship-builder with our community partners. They’re an integral source for crew-level candidates.
- Own Compliance and Regulatory Integration: Is minimum wage going up? Is the language in our handbook correct? Does this policy follow the correct guidelines? We’re looking for a candidate who has their finger on the pulse of compliance and regulations as it relates to Human Resources.
- Be a Culture Keeper: At HCT, we’re all the keepers of our culture, but it all starts with Human Resources. We recognize the importance of having meaningful touchpoints and interactions with our team lends itself to a healthy culture. We’re looking for the HR Director to lead these programs.
