Columbus, Ohio – National Fried Chicken Day has become an annual celebration at Hot Chicken Takeover (HCT), a Central Ohio fried chicken destination. For the second year in a row, HCT is partnering with Food Rescue US-Columbus for the holiday with a focus on creating community impact.
For every meal purchased on July 6, HCT will donate $1 to Food Rescue US-Columbus, a nonprofit organization alleviating food insecurity and food waste in our community and a long-time partner of HCT.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with Food Rescue US for a second year on National Fried Chicken Day,” says Joe DeLoss, Founder of Hot Chicken Takeover. “We’re looking forward to eating fried chicken and creating impact alongside our community next Saturday. It’s going to be a really special day.”
Food Rescue US, a non-profit organization, is a leader in reducing both hunger and food waste in America. Through the use of its proprietary mobile app, Food Rescue US easily connects its area volunteers in Columbus with local companies that have excess food to deliver to social organizations feeding the food insecure throughout Central Ohio and beyond.
“We are pleased to continue our ongoing partnership with Hot Chicken Takeover in support of our mission of reducing hunger and food waste,” said Susan Keiser-Smith, site director of Food Rescue US-Columbus. “With more than 40 million individuals, including 12 million children, who are food insecure in America, it’s crucial for the support and attention HCT is providing through its National Fried Chicken Day program.”
Hot Chicken Takeover is also releasing its newest menu item, Baked Beans, as part of the National Fried Chicken Day celebration.
The new Baked Beans side dish is vegetarian, gluten and dairy free and will become a constant on HCT’s menu — along with the original sides Ma’s Mac and Ma’s slaw — starting Saturday, July 6 at all three Central Ohio locations.
“We’ve been intently listening to your requests for more side options and have been working hard on a new recipe to add to our menu,” comments Joe DeLoss, Founder of Hot Chicken Takeover. “We’re excited for this new addition and can’t wait for your feedback.”
