Hi! My name is Erin. I am a research scientist by day and yes my natural hair color is purple. I love cats, traveling, hiking, riding my bike, playing tennis, painting, cooking themed menus, and of course eating!
How long have you lived in Columbus?
I’ve been in Columbus a little over 8 years, divided in half by a 7 year stint in Tennessee (from 2003-2007 and 2014-2019).
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for 8.5 years for TheSpiffyCookie and SpiffyColumbus just 1 year.
What inspired you to start blogging?
For TheSpiffyCookie, I wanted a platform on which to share my recipe creations with friends and family. For SpiffyColumbus, I was inspired by how much the food scene had changed since I had left in 2007 and wanted to catch up on what I had missed while also helping support local businesses – both restaurant and makers. I originally shared both recipes and Columbus food on TheSpiffyCookie but decided a year ago to split them into two.
Favorite Hot Chicken Takeover memory?
Eating hot chicken bites served in a waffle cone (and putting them on top of a Mikey’s pizza slice) while sitting in the grass along the Scioto Mile at the Columbus Food Truck Fest with friends. But I also had Miss B’s banana pudding as part of my wedding dessert table which was freaking amazing!
What’s your go to order at HCT?
Chicken drumsticks with double mac, ranch, and Miss B’s banana pudding! But I’ve also been known to just get drumsticks and grab two veggie scoops from Little Eater next door in Clintonville.
Fun fact most people don’t know about you.
I’ve been collecting (and drinking) root beer exclusively in bottles since I was about 12 years old and have over 200 to date.
