Columbus, OH – Hot Chicken Takeover and Mikey’s Late Night Slice are teaming up early in support of Food Rescue US, a national organization that engages volunteers to transfer fresh, usable, excess food from grocers, restaurants, and other sources to hungry families in Central Ohio and throughout the US.
Between December 21-31 at any Hot Chicken Takeover or Mikey’s Late Night Slice location, add $5 to your check and contribute 55 rescued meals to your Columbus neighbors in need this holiday season.
As a thank you for contributing to Food Rescue US through the Pay it Forward program, customers will receive an offer for a buy one, get one free HCT meal or LNS slice, valid in the month of January at all Central Ohio locations (excluding Promowest venues).
Hot Chicken Takeover first started the Pay it Forward campaign in 2014 at their North Market location. By partnering up with the Mikey’s Late Night Slice team a few months early, Hot Mikey’s Takeover plans to deepen the impact of the program this year and provide more meals for the community.
“We’ve been partnering with Mikey’s to benefit our community since 2015, the first year of our pizza collaboration. We’re grateful for the opportunity to extend that relationship to a partner (Food Rescue US) we both deeply care about,” says Joe DeLoss, Founder of Hot Chicken Takeover.
Since 2011, Food Rescue US has delivered over 4 million meals to Central Ohio residents and has saved more than 6 million pounds of food from area landfills.
“We have been a food donation partner with Food Rescue US for a couple years now. When the opportunity arose to partner with HCT to provide more impact than just food, we jumped at the chance,” shares Mikey Sorboro, Founder and Owner of Mikey’s Late Night Slice.
“When you donate through the Pay it Forward program this holiday season, you’ll prevent fresh food from ending up in the trash while making sure more families have access to a healthy meal,” shares Christina Knudsen, Development Director for Food Rescue US.
Customers can donate in-stores at all Hot Chicken Takeover and Mikey’s Late Night Slice locations (excluding Promowest venues), and at Hot Chicken Takeover locations, can also add the donation on to their online orders. In-store donors will have the opportunity to fill out a notecard with a message which will be passed along to a meal recipient.
