Hot Chicken Takeover adds plant-based protein to menu

Central Ohio restaurant chain bringing Nashville-style housemade seitan to restaurants

Columbus, Ohio – ‘Not Chicken’ is coming soon to Hot Chicken Takeover’s menu. Hot Chicken Takeover will serve their new plant-based protein, a house-blended seitan, for the first time at all three Central Ohio locations on Monday, August 19.

Aptly named ‘Not Chicken,’ the vegan recipe will be offered to guests in the same style as HCT’s
signature chicken dishes. Fried to order and rubbed with HCT’s classic cayenne heat blends,
their new Not Chicken menu item will extend the Hot Chicken Takeover experience to new and
old guests alike.

“Inclusivity has been a core value of Hot Chicken Takeover from the beginning, especially in
regards to our employment practice. As we grow and build our business further, we want to
extend that inclusivity to our guests, ensuring that all are truly welcomed at our tables,“ shares
Founder + CEO, Joe DeLoss. “This new addition to our menu is a very meaningful step forward
for our company.”

Guests can get their first taste of Not Chicken on Monday, August 19 and Monday, August 26
at all three Columbus HCT locations. This limited launch will be followed by a permanent addition of Not Chicken in September. The date will be announced later this month.

The new Not Chicken menu additions can be ordered as a classic entree serve open faced on
bread or as a sandwich, topped with Ma’s Slaw and pickles. All Not Chicken meals will come with your choice of two sides. Hot Chicken Takeover’s new Baked Beans side, added to the menu earlier this month, is one of two vegan side options. Ma’s Slaw, a vinegar-based coleslaw and family recipe, is also vegan.
