Hiii! I’m Robin of CBUS Local Love. I’ve been roaming the streets of Columbus almost 17 years! I moved here in May 2002 and have been reppin’ the east side since 2003.
How long have you been blogging?
April 23rd-ish will be my 5 year anniversary of doing this crazy blog thing. I’m still dazed by the fact that there are folks out there who enjoy reading about my adventures and ramblings.
What inspired you to start blogging?
Haha. Great question. I was and am constantly inspired by this city and the jazzy people within and around 614. I’m from a small town in New Mexico, and local was pretty much all I knew. When I first moved to Columbus, I didn’t think there was a local scene here. Discovering local businesses was like finding my tribe. I would also note that I was heavily persuaded by my mom to begin blogging because she was tired of me calling her multiple times a day when I first cut the cable cord.
First time having HCT?
This is one of my favorite memories! It was a cool sunny weekend at the East Side Co-op. I was so excited that I snagged a ticket to this new pop-up concept! I believe my pickup time was 2p-3p. I was warmly greeted by Liz and received my hot chicken box from Joe. 15 seconds later I fell in love with some of the best chicken I ever had.
Favorite HCT memory?
My favorite memory is attending an HCT Kickstarter party hosted by Bryant and Nate. Imagine all your favorite people in one room with spiked iced tea and all the hot chicken you can devour. Doesn’t get too much better than that.
What’s your go to order?
TBH – I love everything and order something different each time I’m there!! If I had to pick, probably the whole bird. I’m a meat and meat kinda gal. When I’m feeling fancy I go with the drumstick flight.
Fun fact most people don’t know about you.
I don’t know if this is a fun fact, but it’s guaranteed to be random, lol. I’ve been studying the Russian language for a cool decade!
